Why Sunscreen Is Always Part of Our Kissed Peach Daily Regimen—Even in the Winter

/ Why Sunscreen Is Always Part of Our Kissed Peach Daily Regimen—Even in the Winter

If you don’t think you need sunscreen during the wintertime, think again. UV rays from the sun are beaming down year-round—essentially whenever the sun is out (which does still happen during the colder months, though not as often!). So the sun may feel weaker, but it can still do just as much damage to your skin.

We recommend applying sunscreen every day to prevent fine lines, wrinkles, discoloration, and even skin cancer, which can all be a result of prolonged sun exposure. You’ll want to choose a sunscreen that includes UVA protection (aka a “broad spectrum” sunscreen) and active ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that physically block damaging rays from the sun.

Of course, dousing your body in sunscreen every day isn’t the most ideal, so while you’re probably layered up and covered in long pants and sweaters during the wintertime, your face and hands are typically more exposed to the sun. You can buy an SPF-packed moisturizer that protects your skin from both the sun’s harmful rays and the dryness that usually comes with cold temps. It’s a win-win! One thing to note, however, is that if your foundation has SPF in it, you should still apply some sort of sunscreen to make sure you’re blocking those harmful UV rays.

As far as when to apply sunscreen, you’re going to want to fit it into your skincare routine in the morning before putting on makeup, at least 15 to 30 minutes before going outside, and it’s recommended that you reapply about every two hours.

We carry several different types of sunscreen and SPF-laden products at Kissed Peach that’ll ensure your skin stays safe from the sun all year round! Peruse our products the next time you come in, or shop our online store.
