Tips for Changing Up Your Fall Skincare Routine

/ Tips for Changing Up Your Fall Skincare Routine

It’s (finally) getting cooler outside, which means you need to switch up your skincare routine! The colder weather definitely has an effect on your skin (we are not looking forward to the dry skin that inevitably comes with cold temps), so you’ll need to plan accordingly. Here, we provide some tips that will keep your skin looking fresh all fall long!

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

It’s super important to keep your skin hydrated, especially during the colder months when the air gets drier and skin starts to naturally lose moisture. Hydrate and coat your skin with essential oils, serums, and creams, and use a moisturizer daily. An at-home facial does wonders as well!

Avoid Long, Hot Showers

While a hot shower is heaven after being out in the cold, the hot temps can actually dry out your skin and cause redness and cracking. Instead, use lukewarm water and moisturize immediately afterward to help seal in moisture.

Use a Vitamin C Serum

Using vitamin C serum on the daily helps even skin pigmentation and boost collagen production, resulting in an even-toned, brighter complexion. It also helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots. A win-win-win!

Exfoliate

Dry skin causes dead skin cells to build up, forming a barrier that makes it difficult for moisture to stay in the skin and protect its barrier. Use an exfoliating mask regularly to help skin look and feel smoother, followed immediately with a moisturizer.

Keep Applying Sunscreen!

Even as the weather cools down, it’s super important to keep applying sunscreen every day! Sunscreen helps decrease incoming UV radiation, which accelerates and increases the risk of skin cancer. A sunscreen with at least SPF 30 is recommended.
